      Antenatal Hydrotherapy

As your body adapts to its changing shape, it is not unusual to experience aches and pains during pregnancy. Exercise during pregnancy helps maintain muscle tone which is vital to the support of the body’s joints and posture.

One of the best forms of exercise is water-based classes, where the buoyancy unloads the spinal and lower limb joints and provides gentle resistance to movement whilst the interaction with other soon-to-be mothers can provide a sense of comfort and establish a good support network.

Subiaco Women’s Health classes are offered in a modern, purpose-built hydrotherapy pool under the close supervision of qualified physiotherapists. Naturally all necessary precautions are taken to ensure you and your baby are safe and happy.

      • Antenatal Hydrotherapy Classes

Subiaco Women’s Health offers antenatal hydrotherapy classes:

        • All classes are conducted by physiotherapists experienced in women’s health.
        • Antenatal hydrotherapy classes enable you to exercise safely in a buoyant environment throughout your pregnancy. Our classes incorporate a combination of cardiovascular and resistance-based exercises.
        • Whilst pregnancy is an important time to maintain physical activity, there can be medical limitations. It is necessary for all women to obtain a referral from their GP or obstetrician prior to attending our antenatal classes.

Benefits of exercising in water during pregnancy:

        • Relieves symptoms of lower limb swelling
        • Improves sleep quality
        • Prevents excessive maternal weight gain
        • Reduces lower back and pelvic pain
        • Builds strength and cardiovascular fitness
        • Assists with continuation of exercise throughout pregnancy
        • Improves mood and wellbeing
        • Low impact exercise -pelvic floor safe exercise
        • Positive impact on birth -reduces requests for pain relief during labour
